Pastor's Bio

Rev. Jerome Freeman Bell is a native of Coffeeville, Alabama where he was raised in the loving home of Mrs. Pearlie Slater Bell and the late Deacon John Freeman Bell, Jr. After graduation from Coffeeville High School, Jerome attended Alabama A&M University where he earned a B.S. in Secondary Education in 1994.
In 1994, Jerome moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to work as the Director of Children and Youth Programs for the Baptist Neighborhood Center. From December 1996 to June 2005, Jerome served as Pastor of the Baptist Neighborhood Fellowship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition, he also worked as a middle school English teacher for nine years in the Albuquerque Public School System. During this time, Jerome earned his Master of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of New Mexico.
In 2005, Jerome moved to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Beeson Divinity School at Samford University where he completed his Master of Divinity Degree in 2009. In January 2006, Jerome became a member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a minister intern. He also served on the pastoral staff of Huffman Baptist Church from 2008-2010. Later, Jerome served as a church planting pastor of the South Roebuck Community Church from 2010-2012. From 2012-2014, Jerome taught at Paul Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa and Midfield High School respectively. From 2014-2016, Jerome served as the minister of Evangelism and Outreach for Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.
Since 2018, Jerome has served as the Stated Supply Pastor for Westminster Presbyterian Church. He also works as an English teacher for the Department of Youth Service at the McNeel School in Birmingham, Alabama. On March 23rd, 2019, Jerome married Toneka Armstrong Bell. They have one amazing daughter, Iman Grace Bell, who is a student majoring in African-American Studies at UAB.
